Upcoming Webinar Addresses Youth Sports-related Concussion

Here on our NeuroNotes blog, we have been writing quite a bit about the effects of concussion, and specifically about concussion resulting from participation in sports activities.  A crucial piece in what we know about sports and concussion involves necessary regulation of return to play after injury.  Traditionally, in football games, for example, it has been common to return to play after a hard hit or even a loss of consciousness.  The implementation of return to play regulation must occur to increase the safety of our sports participants.

On Friday, September 13th, a webinar seeks to examine strategies for implementation of return to play legislation.  “Addressing Youth Sports-related Concussion:  Using CDC Resources and State/Local Approaches” is sponsored by the National Center on Injury Prevention and Control, Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in collaboration with the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) and the National Association of State Head Injury Administrators (NASHIA).  It will educate participants about CDC resources and materials to assist with return to play implementation and to identify ways that different health systems can work together to help youth athletes after a concussion.

Please join CDC and BIAA on Friday, September 13, 2013, 2:00 pm – 3:00pm EST for this webinar.  It is free and you do not have to pre-register. The webinar will have a participant limit so please log on 15 minutes early to ensure a space.

I wasn’t able to participate in last weeks webinar regarding youth sports and concussions. Was there a recording made of the webinar that I can access? If not, was there a transcription of the webinar posted on your site? Everything I look under simply brings me back to the information dated September 12, the day before the webinar.

    Thanks for your help,

  2. Can I get a download of the presentation on Sept 13, Addressing Youth Sports-related Concussion: Using CDC Resources and State/Local Approaches? It was very good. I was on the webinar but there are a few slides I would like to see again. Thank you. Barb Winters, Brain Injury Association of VT
