Spring 2015 with the Brookhaven and Neurologic Rehabilitation institute: On the Road Once Again
The start of the 2015 Conference Season will take staff members from Brookhaven Hospital and the Neurologic Rehabilitation Institute throughout the United States and into Canada.
On February 6 and 7 the Santa Clara Valley Brain Injury Conference has invited Rolf Gainer, PhD; Ron Broughton, LPC, CBIST and Matt Maxey, RN, BSN, CBIS to speak on topics related to social role return, restoration of the self and reducing the need for seclusion and restraint on an impatient TBI neurobehavioral unit.
We will also attend the Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa’s long-established conference on March 6-7 in Des Moines, Iowa with Nancy Weber, MA, CBIS, presenting, “Caregivers as Clients: Who’s Caring for the Caregivers?” Also, Abby Duran, LPC, CBIS, will present, “Invisible Wounds of the Military: Moral Injury, TBI, and Creating a New Self Concept.”
The Oregon Pacific Northwest Conference, held in Portland on March 13 and 14 has asked Dr. Gainer and Ron Broughton to speak at their two-day conference with the second day focused on family members and brain injury survivors.
Jason Pirtle and Joey Smith, Brain Injury Case Manager and the newest member of our NRI team, will be exhibiting at the Brain Injury Association of Kansas and Greater Kansas City conference on March 26-27.
Abby Duran, MS, CRC, LPC, CBIS, has been invited to speak at the Williamsburg Brain Injury Rehabilitation Conference, April 15-17, on the subject of moral injury, PTSD and TBI a subject highly important to our veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan.
On April 27-28, Dr. Rolf Gainer will speak in Seattle at the Washington State Brain Injury Conference on both Aging with a Brain Injury and as a keynote speaker on the topic of Social Role Return.
June takes Dr. Gainer to Ottawa, Ontario for the Brain Injury Awareness Day conference. Dr. Gainer will speak about long-term issues in living with a brain injury.
We cap off the Spring and Summer season with the South African Neurologic Rehabilitation Association conference in Johannesburg, South Africa, August 27-29, where Dr. Gainer has been invited to join this international conference. He will speak on the topic of lifespan issues.
Our Behavioral Health team will be out and about this Spring also, with M.J. Clausen, MS, LPC, exhibiting at the Oklahoma Drug and Alcohol Professional Counselor’s Spring conference, April 9th and 10th.
