Another Bull Riding Tragedy
Ty Pozzobon, a four-time champion bull rider, took his life this past January after battling depression and anxiety which are believed to have come from his multiple concussions. NeuroNotes has written about brain injuries from bull riding in previous blogs which have attracted several negative comments from proponents of the sport. Ty was 25 at the time of his death by suicide. He began competing in Canadian rodeo events in 2010 and joined the U.S. rodeo circuit full-time in 2011. His brain will be studied by Nucleus Bio, LLC, a Vancouver-area company and the University of Washington to determine if he had CTE.
NeuroNotes is concerned with the long-term effects of multiple concussions from sports injuries and has published many blogs regarding Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy or CTE. Ty Pozzobon’s suicide is another example of the potential effects of multiple concussions.
