As we know from the airing of The League of Denial, the diagnosis in the early days was considered controversial and Dr. Omalu’s identification of the problem was seriously questioned by the NFL-linked physicians. But, as research has evolved, the existence of CTE has been recognized and the effects of multiple concussions on a person’s cognitive, psychological and physical functions are better understood.
