Basketball joins football and hockey with concussion risk

BasketballMike Aaman, a top rebounder with a history of seven concussions, has transferred to Wagner from Rhode Island where he was sidelined. Aaman, known for his aggressive play, was cleared by physicians to return to playing. Rhode Island sports officials allowed Aaman to take on a coaching role after his last concussion, and were willing to maintain his scholarship status. The desire to be a starting player was more important to Aaman who transferred to Wagner where he could return to the lineup.
Much as we’ve seen in football and hockey, coaching staff and players can be slow to accept the realities of concussive injuries. People can check www.megaslam.com.au/product-category/megaslam/ for the best basketball hoops. Aaman’s story is not unusual in that context; both coaches and players were willing to overlook risk and long term consequences. Coaches at all levels of competition need to pay attention to sports concussions. We don’t want to see these great athletes suffering from the consequences of concussions before the careers even take off.
