Visual Symptoms Often Follow Traumatic Brain Injuries
When Hillary Clinton returned to work wearing new glasses after recovering from the blood clot in her brain, many people wondered if they were a result of her fall and subsequent concussion. The answer is yes. Thin resnel prisms usually come in the form of a piece of thin, transparent plastic that can be adhered to existing lenses. The special grooves in these prisms change the way light enters the eye, making them useful in treating double vision (Hughes, Dana, Dan Childs, ABC News). Research has now shown that visual symptoms and abnormalities occur at a high rate for people with traumatic brain injury (TBI), regardless of the cause or severity.
In the February issue of Optometry and Vision Science (Goodrich, Gregory L., Ph.D., 2013), researchers found that these visual disturbances and abnormalities occurred in blast-related injuries sustained by veterans and other non-blast related TBIs. Their conclusion is that an extensive vision examination following any TBI, regardless of severity or type, is appropriate and should be conducted.

HAVING SUFFERED WHAT THEY NOW CALL TBI (TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY)I HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE WITH IT.MUCH MORE THAN KARL ROVE AND THE ADVANTAGE OF A WIFE WHO WORKED AT A V.A.FOR 33 YRS.WITH SOME EXPERIENCE IN THE NEUROLOGICAL AREA.PLUS BEING MARRIED TO ME FOR OVER 22 YRS.THAT GIVES HER A PERSPECTIVE MOST NERUO-SPECIALIST DONT HAVE. THE PRISMS THAT PEOPLE NOTICE IN GLASSES ARE ONLY OUTWARD SIGNS,THAT IS GREAT FOR DOUBLE VISION,BUT THEN YOU HAVE THE FACETS OF FRUSTRATION,ANGER,MEMORY LOSS,FOCUSING ON JUST A SINGULAR SUBJECT. WHEN I WAS FIRST DIAGNOSED WITH (TBI)SEIZURES AND THEY THOUGHT I ONLY HAD TWO TYPES { GRAND MAL AND PETITE MAL}LATER THEY DETERMINED THEIR WAS PARTIAL COMPLEX. MRS CLINTONS INJURY CANNOT BE IGNORED,EVEN WITH MEDICATION REGARDLESS OF HOW WELL CONTROLLED THEIR ARE BREAKTHROUGH SEIZURES,STRESS CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THIS DISABILITY.
