House of Representatives Approves Bill To Improve Veteran Access To TBI Treatment

Wednesday, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a bill that would grant veterans access to better treatment for traumatic brain injuries. The bill was introduced by Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) who said he aimed to improve the services offered to veterans and increase reporting requirements.

“We always pray that our veterans return home in good health and good spirits,” Cassidy said. “If they do not, it is our duty to provide these men and women with the proper care they need. For those suffering from traumatic brain injury, we can help them by enhancing a treatment program with proven results. Ensuring our veterans have access to quality treatment options is a priority.”

The legislation appears to have strong support and seems likely to pass. House Majority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) acted as an original co-sponsor on the bill.

“Enhancing this successful program means more stability and certainty for veterans and their families,” McCarthy said. “Louisiana veterans should be glad they have a doctor like Bill looking out for their best interests.”
