Ridley Scott to Direct Movie About Concussions in Football
Frontline’s League of Denial may have been the biggest film dealing with the issue of brain injury in professional football so far, but don’t expect it to be the last. There are several other documentaries addressing the issue and the more recent revelations that have come out since production of League of Denial ended, and now a star director has signed on to create his own major motion picture dealing with the issue.
Ridley Scott, famous for the movies Blade Runner, Alien, Black Hawk Down, and most recently Prometheus, has signed on to direct a currently untitled film that will focus on “the physical and psychological effects of concussions on football players”, according to Variety. Actress Giannina Facio, who has worked with Scott on numerous movies, including Prometheus, is also attached to produce the project.
So far, all that is known about the movie is that is will center on pro football players who suffer concussions and the long term effects that have been discovered in recent years. Production of the movie will begin once Scott has finished shooting his latest epic titled Exodus.
