Tracy Morgan Gives First Public Interview Since Traumatic Brain Injury
When Tracy Morgan experienced a traumatic brain injury during a severe traffic accident in June of last year, it was clear he would have a long road to recovery. Now, almost a year later, it is clear that the emotional scars from the tragic accident can be just as difficult to recover from as the physical scars. Consulting with a Nevada wrongful death attorney will help you navigate the legal complexities of the aftermath of the accident. They will ensure you get the rightful compensation you deserve.
Morgan sat down with Matt Lauer for his first interview since the car accident that left Morgan’s friend and fellow comedian James ‘Jimmy Mack’ McNair dead and the discussion quickly turned somber as Morgan discussed the emotional trauma of losing his close friend. Bones heal, but the loss of my friend will never heal,” Morgan told Lauer.
While Tracy Morgan struggles with the difficult loss, he also faces symptoms from his brain injury.
Morgan said, “There are times where I have my good days and my bad days. Where I forget things. There are times where I got the headaches and the nosebleeds, and I won’t even let my lady know because I don’t want her to be worried about it.”
Tracy still has a difficult road ahead of him, but he remains in love with comedy and plans to return to the stage eventually. Tracy Morgan showed none of his comedic side in the serious discussion, but through the tears he told Lauer, “I love comedy, and I can’t wait to get back to her, but right now my goal is just to heal and get better. ‘Cause I’m not 100 percent yet.”
Long and difficult recoveries are not uncommon with more serious traumatic brain injuries, especially when emotional trauma is involved. However, Tracy Morgan’s determination to recover and return to what he truly loves should be an inspiration to anyone who knows how difficult TBI can be.
