Former Radio Host Tries To Raise Awareness For TBI

With all the doctors speaking out about traumatic brain injury (TBI) research, it is easy to forget the people at the heart of the issue – the patients. That’s why it is nice to hear first hand accounts of what TBI patients go through.

Darrell Ankarlo, a former radio host who currently works for the Brain Injury Alliance of Arizona, spoke on-air at KTAR about his incident and the move to get people to stop thinking of TBI as “concussions.”

His personal story involves anxiety, depression, and frustration. “Your brain tries to fix itself, but at certain points, it does not know it’s damaged. Especially early on, people did not realize how depressed I was,” Ankarlo said.
