Study Finds More Evidence Linking TBI and CTE
New research published in the scientific journal Brain helps support the theory that repeated “mild” traumatic brain injuries can lead to long-term degenerative brain disease known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
The study examined brain samples from 85 people with histories of repeated mild TBI, and the study alone has doubled the number of CTE cases identified. Eighty percent of the brains in the study showed evidence of different stages of CTE.
The New York Times has more information on the study, but it is getting increasingly difficult to deny that repeated TBI is no laughing matter.
